A SPACE BAR NIGHTMARE!
Is this a coincidence? Friday morning, when I got my Google Wave acccount, I logged in for the first time. It uses the space bar to move from blip to blip. The first time ever my space bar got assigned any function other than to create space between letters in a text processor. Now it is used for a navigation function normally associated with “Tab” in many programs, e.g. to go to the next cell of a table.
By Saturday night my space bar got assigned navigation function in several programs!.
In Gmail it brings up a dialogue box titled “Confirm Navigation”, saying “Your message has not been sent”, and giving me the choices “Leave this Page” and “Stay on This Page”. It happens in Chrome 5.0.342.9, Firefox 3.6.3, and MSIE v.8
Pressing space bar in Gmail “Search” field makes the previously typed text disappear and reload the Gmail browser window.
In Word Perfect the space bar opens up the printer dialogue box!
In Microsoft Notepad it prints the time stamp into the text!
My Microsoft Word opens and then stops responding!
On web sites, after typing in comment fileds (Wave Help Forum, Facebook) pressing the space bar makes the text disappear and everything goes back to the original state.
Thank God I’m able to type this comment in Microsoft Works Word.
How and where do I strip my space bar of all these navigation functions assigned to my space bar?!?
I have already reinstalled my keyboard, restored the computer to a state before I began using the Wave, installed Java for Chrome, and still cannot use the space bar.
This is my OS:
MS Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (32-bit)
Service Pack 2
DirectX Version 10.0
Delete a message in a thread
Is there a keyboard shortcut for this? Or even to navigate to the drop down menu within a message? Or to choose any of those options without using the mouse to pull down the menu?
Just hit Esc
if it's a new reply that you've just created and are editing for the first time, you can just hit Escape "Esc" and it will delete that reply. I haven't found one for deleting an pre-existing blip or getting into the drop down menu
What if it is not a an empty reply one is trying to delete ?
Is there then a way to accomplish with only the keyboard ?
shortcut for the blip OK button?
Is there a keyboard shortcut for ending a blip? I type a blip and hit return, expecting it to act like IM, which of course it doesn't. I'm still in the blip and have to grab my mouse to click the ok button. Sure would like to know if there's a shortcut for the blip OK button.
It's Shift+Enter
It's Shift+Enter
Yeah, anytime you're in edit
Yeah, anytime you're in edit mode, pressing "Shift+Enter" is the same as clicking the "Done" button.
